Not far from Minneapolis – an easy 2-hour drive west on Interstate 94 – lies a beautiful little place known as the Alexandria Lakes area.

About 20,000 years ago, the last of the glaciers retreated to the north, scouring out more than 375 pristine lakes in this part of the state – nestled in the trees and rolling hills – many of them here in what today is Douglas County. Not far from the geographic center of the county is the county seat, Alexandria.
The Alexandria Lakes Area offers lakes, rivers, forests, meadows and rolling hills. These environments contribute to a recreational delight enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike. Fishing since the age of eight. Seriously writing since the age of 16. Chef and foodie from the age of 22 years… and counting. So much to learn and so little time. I have enjoyed every minute of it all. Whether on the water (where I like it best), in the kitchen, or at the keyboard, churning out content, I feel like I have found my place.
