Port Washington, Wisconsin
French explorers saw it in the late 17th
century, and in 1835, General Wooster Harrison became the town's first
permanent settler, in what he originally named Wisconsin City.
Nestled among the hills and along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, just
30 miles north of Milwaukee, is a city that will tug at your
heartstrings at first glance... Reminiscent of a New England
fishing village and brimming with Midwestern friendliness, Port
Washington is a place that will immediately captivate, inspire and draw
you in to her charm and beauty. On the National Register of
Historic Places, the city offers a plethora of pre-Civil War buildings
and historic storefronts. But there are also plenty of
restaurants, shops and inviting accommodations, beaches, trails, fishing
opportunities and lots more to see and do. Take some time to visit
our two lighthouses, our beaches or our nearby state park facilities.
Come for a day and enjoy one of our many festivals, or stay for awhile
and experience the joy of relaxation. Either way, you're sure to
enjoy yourself while you are here!
