BORDER VIEW LODGE - LAKE OF THE WOODS ORIGINAL WEEKLY FISHING REPORT
The Walleye have been on the feed all week long. Our weather pattern has been unstable, with a few days of on and off thunderstorms coming through the area. However, the Walleyes have not been phased by the rain, thunder and lighting.
Most of our guides have been concentrating their efforts out deep in 28-31 FOW on the mud flats. Many of the fish are hanging tight to the bottom, but they have been active.
Follow up:
Anchoring and jigging continues to be productive, along with drifting with spinner rigs and a live minnow. Productive jig colors include gold, orange, chartreuse, green, pink, and white. Combinations of the aforementioned colors have been hot. Fathead minnows, leeches, and frozen shiners have all been catching fish. Some fishermen are starting to have success trolling cranks as well. Water temperatures are hanging in the mid 60s.
Our charters have been having great success with numbers and a nice mix of big fish. 100+ fish days have been common so far this season and during the past week. Charters have been getting anywhere from a few to over a dozen fish in the 20+ inch range daily to boot!
