BORDER VIEW LODGE - LAKE OF THE WOODS ORIGINAL WEEKLY FISHING REPORT
Fishing has remained good this past week. We are continuing to fish the same areas around Knight and Bridges, as well as out in the deep mud out from Pine Island. We moved a couple more houses up past Knight this week and are spread out pretty well up there as well as off of Pine. Our houses are away from the crowds. We have houses out in the deep mud in 30-34’, on a gradual gravel drop off in 26-31’, and in deep water around a small reef.
Follow up:
The majority of the fish are still holding in deep water during the day. Most fish are being caught within a couple feet of the bottom, but occasionally nice Walleyes are cruising by suspended well off the bottom. Saugers are still plentiful, as they have been all winter, but you will need to do some sorting. Perch continue to show up somewhat regularly with most houses getting into a couple jumbos each day. One house had over a dozen yesterday.
The weatherman is calling for another week of nice temperatures with daytime highs in the low to mid 20’s. Can’t complain about that! The lake has a consistent 28-32” of ice. Our bomber trails are in great shape, with very few pressure ridges to worry about. It’s about an hour ride to our houses up by Knight and Bridges. Our plowed road houses are about 6 miles off of Pine Island and the road is in great shape as well.
Big fish are continuing to show up. Steve Busack from Echo, MN picked up a 29.5” Walleye yesterday on a glow red and gold Stop Sign.
