Anglers had a pretty active week, most report some success, with the walleye bite being the forerunner. Jig and minnow presented at either side of 35' was doing the trick. Deep pockets off of shoreline structures were the most dependable locations for success.
Northern pike being caught and speared at depths varying between 9' and 18' soft bottom shorelines or sandbar edges were successful. Crappie anglers may have to wait till spring for some satisfaction, so far no confirmed reports of happy anglers.

Some reports of lake trout success in many of the inland lakes, horizontal jigs or spoons near the bottom at 35-45' may work for you.
Lots of new snow should improve our trails. Looks like excellent trail conditions for snowmobiling this weekend. Come All and Enjoy the Beginning of 2010 - it is early and there are still openings this winter at many of the winter resorts.
