| « Rainy Lake & International Falls. 12/30/09 | Lake Vermilion, (Tower & Cook, MN) Fishing Report 12-28-09 » |
Well finally all signs of winter have arrived, good ice, lots of snow, a very recent +16" of new snow. Now the snow has slowed and good average cold temps are moving in, therefore anglers and snowmobilers should be happy. Not much new on the anglers and spearers reports, seem to be an average year thus far. Reports today are no slush on the lake, just a real good snow base.
Follow up:
The angling season time-wise is just beginning, jig and minnow should be, as always the ticket for walleyes. Small glow jigs fished at either side of 30' is a good starting point. Ash River, between the Martin Islands, mouth of Lost Lake and the opening at Blind Ash Bay might be good starting points.
I got the word today that the trail groomers will be out in force on the land trails, and the National Park Service will be checking out Kabetogama for ice thickness prior to lake grooming operations.
See you Soon,
Have a Happy, Safe and Memorable Holiday Season!
Phil & Ellen Hart
